In Sydney – May 13, 2012 – Concerts and Workshops

And after quite a few exciting months in the USA, I’m heading back to Sydney for a couple of wonderful events. It’s been such a blast hanging out and making music with all of my American friends, but I am very excited to play for some familiar faces once again.

To kick off my return to the Antipodes, there’ll be a day of flutey goodness in Lane Cove on May 13. Come for the Contemporary Flute Workshop in the afternoon, then return in the evening for my Champagne Flute recital featuring Mozart, Martinu, Roussel, Enescu, Ian Clarke, and perhaps a surprise or two!

Come and play your flute in new and interesting ways, make some new friends and perform with zaniest flute ensemble around. Join young flute players from all around Sydney in an exciting afternoon workshop and performance.
Students will be introduced to some of the more uncommon ways of making music with the flute, covering everything from beatboxing, sounding like a microwave to imitating a steam train. The workshop will conclude with a performance for adoring fans, friends and family, featuring group compositions shaped by the students.
Flute players of ALL AGES AND ABILITIES are invited to participate, especially those in primary and high school. No prior improvisation, extended technique or composition experience required; all you need is a basic level of flute playing and an enthusiastic smile!
